Attendee Health, Safety & Wellbeing Information

Our aim is simple: to create an experience where you can learn, connect and enjoy yourself knowing your safety and wellbeing have been thoughtfully considered.
This page summarises the health, safety and wellbeing expectations that apply to Attendees at Gernius conferences and organised activities. It should be read alongside your Experience Guide, the Terms and any event-specific information provided before travel.
Who Leads in an Emergency?
In an emergency, follow the directions of emergency services or local authorities and the reasonable instructions of the venue, transport provider, activity provider or Gernius personnel managing the immediate situation.
Gernius will support those instructions, account for the group, communicate updates and activate the conference safety plan as needed.
What We Ask of You
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and consider the wellbeing of others.
- Follow reasonable safety and emergency instructions from hotels, venues, transport providers, activity operators, local authorities and the Gernius team.
- Provide accurate information before travel about medical conditions, allergies, dietary requirements, accessibility needs or other matters that could affect safe participation.
- Tell Lietta, Pam or the nominated Gernius team member promptly if you feel unwell, are injured, notice a hazard or have a wellbeing or safety concern.
- Use appropriate clothing, footwear, sun protection and safety equipment for the activity.
- Do not take part in an activity if you are impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication, illness or fatigue, or if you do not feel fit to participate.
- Treat other Attendees, Gernius team members, local communities, suppliers, property, culture and the environment with respect.
Activities, Excursions & Transport
Some Gernius Experiences include cultural visits, excursions, group transport, swimming, outdoor activities or other organised experiences. Providers may impose reasonable safety requirements, eligibility restrictions or separate participation waivers. Any waiver requiring an Attendee’s agreement will be provided to that Attendee for consideration. An Attendee who does not complete a required waiver may be unable to participate in the relevant activity.
Participation in an activity may be paused or declined where Gernius or the provider reasonably considers that a person is not fit to participate or that conditions are unsafe.
Medical Information & Travel Insurance
- Attendees must provide the health and emergency information requested before travel.
- Bring sufficient prescribed medication for the trip and keep essential medication accessible.
- Comprehensive travel insurance is required for each Attendee, with proof of cover provided as requested.
- You are responsible for ensuring your insurance is suitable for your personal circumstances, any travel extensions, activities and valuable items you take overseas.
Alcohol, Drugs & Impairment
We want everyone to enjoy the social side of the experience. Alcohol must be consumed responsibly. Illegal drugs are not permitted. No one should participate in an activity, drive, or place themselves or others at risk while impaired.
Conduct & Wellbeing
Everyone is entitled to feel safe and respected. Bullying, harassment, violence, threatening behaviour, serious intoxication, deliberate safety breaches or behaviour that significantly disrupts the experience may result in intervention and, in serious cases, removal from the conference or an activity in accordance with the Terms.
If you are concerned about your own wellbeing or someone else’s, speak with Lietta, Pam or another Gernius team member as soon as possible.
Changes, Weather & Local Conditions
Travel and overseas events can change. Gernius may alter, postpone or stop an activity where weather, local conditions, provider advice, transport changes, health concerns or another risk makes that appropriate. We will communicate changes as clearly and promptly as we can.
Privacy
Personal information, including health, medical, passport and emergency contact details, is handled in accordance with clause 21 of the Terms.
Your Agreement
By completing your registration and signing the applicable Attendee Acceptance, you confirm that you have read and understood this Attendee Health, Safety & Wellbeing Information and agree to follow the reasonable safety instructions that apply during the Gernius Experience.
The full Gernius Conference Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manual is an internal operational document. Event-specific safety information and instructions will also be provided where relevant before and during each conference.

This document must be read with The Gernius Experience Terms and Conditions. If there is any inconsistency, the Terms and Conditions prevail. This document does not create any additional warranty or obligation for Gernius beyond the Terms and applicable law.
